Between the 19th and 27th of June, the 5th WFDB General Assembly and the 11th Helen Keller World Conference took place in Benidorm, Spain. During those days, more than 300 Deafblind people, along with their interpreters gathered together, sharing experiences and joining forces in order to help improve the quality of life of Deafblind people around the world.

On the 5th of June, the EDbU had the opportunity to hold its 3rd Conference in the European Parliament.
Under the motto “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”, this conference took place with the main objective of proclaiming the Emergency Resolution on Equal Opportunities of Persons with Deafblindness in Europe.

Dear Deafblind friends and colleagues,
The EDbU is saddened by the unexpected news on the death of our friend Mr. Dimitar Parapanov, the former EDbU’s Auditor and president of National Association of the Deafblind in Bulgaria (NADbBg).

EDF Women Committee
The EDbU is proud to have its representative, Sanja Tarczay, on the EDF Committee on Women with Disabilities among 10 members coming from all over Europe and representing different groups of persons with disabilities.

#DisabilityforCEDAW
The EDbU along with the EDF fully supports and endorses the candidacy of Ana Pelaez to the United Nations Committee of Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Ana is fighting relentlessly to include women with disabilities in CEDAW, giving meaning to her campaign motto, #DisabilityforCEDAW.

As an EDF Board member, the EDbU representative Ms Sanja Tarczay, Ph.D, participated at the thematic conference and EDF Board meeting, both aiming for EDF members to be better equipped to advocate for disability-inclusive SDGs and other relevant policies in Europe and within its member states.
