ZAGREB, CROATIA – FEBRUARY, 28th 2015 –
Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing hosted the meeting of European Union Deafblind Persons (EDbU) and the European Union of the Deaf (EUD) – two of the most important organizations in the field of deafness/ deafblindness in Europe.
Acknowledging that EUD and EDbU share common values on the rights of deaf and deafblind people, during the EUD Board Meeting in Zagreb, Ms. Sanja Tarczay, Ph.D. (the EDbU president) and Mr. Markku Jokinen (the EUD president) signed the Co-operation Agreement aimed to establish a formal framework for co-operation and enhance the collaboration between EUD and EDbU in order to facilitate the development of services for the express purpose of benefiting deaf and deafblind people in Europe.
The Co-operation Agreement between EUD and EDbU, will ensure not only promotion of mutual understanding between National Deaf Associations and National Deafblind Organisations, identification of potential projects/ funding opportunities, remove obstacles to the partnership’s successful delivery, but also encourage the engagement of both organizations in joint efforts while politically lobbying and activelly seeking a full recognition of deaf/deafblind people in all aspects of society.
