This year, we are using the motto “Accessible DeSIGNed Europe for Deafblind” to highlight the importance of recognition of deafblindness as a distinct dual sensory impairment and our right of access to high quality interpreting services with which allow us to participate, contribute and prosper equally in Europe!

HKWC 2018 – OUR RIGHTS, OUR VOICES, WE LEAD THE WAY

Between the 19th and 27th of June, the 5th WFDB General Assembly and the 11th Helen Keller World Conference took place in Benidorm, Spain. During those days, more than 300 Deafblind people, along with their interpreters gathered together, sharing experiences and joining forces in order to help improve the quality of life of Deafblind people around the world.

3rd Conference of the EDbU in the European Parliament

On the 5th of June, the EDbU had the opportunity to hold its 3rd Conference in the European Parliament.

Under the motto “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”, this conference took place with the main objective of proclaiming the Emergency Resolution on Equal Opportunities of Persons with Deafblindness in Europe.

The EDbU is saddened by the unexpected news on the death of our friend Mr. Dimitar Parapanov, the former EDbU’s Auditor and president of National Association of the Deafblind in Bulgaria (NADbBg).

The EDbU along with the EDF fully supports and endorses the candidacy of Ana Pelaez to the United Nations Committee of Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).

Ana is fighting relentlessly to include women with disabilities in CEDAW, giving meaning to her campaign motto, #DisabilityforCEDAW.
